Italian Travertine Obelisk Table Lamp

A striking Italian table lamp dating to the 1970s, sculpted from richly textured travertine and conceived in the form of a classical obelisk. The architectural composition features a tall, dramatically tapered body rising from a stepped rectangular pedestal, giving the lamp a distinctly neoclassical presence while retaining the clean geometry associated with Italian design of the period. The natural travertine is particularly appealing, with characteristic pitting, tonal variation and fossil-like markings throughout the stone, ensuring that every surface has its own subtle character. The travertine body is grounded by a slim brass-toned plinth, providing a warm metallic counterpoint to the softly coloured stone.
