ADS-B Dual Band Bandpass Filter 978 MHz + 1090 MHz
PRODUCT OVERVIEW This is a compact bandpass filter covering both the 978 MHz UAT and 1090 MHz ADS-B/Mode S bands in a single part. The 1030 MHz interrogation frequency falling naturally within the passband between them. Typical insertion loss is 1.5 dB across the passband, with rejection of 40 dB below 700 MHz and 35 dB above 1400 MHz. This is enough to keep strong out-of-band signals from overwhelming your receiver before they get there. The filter uses SMA-F PCB edge-mount connectors, handles up to +33 dBm input power, and operates across a -40°C to +85°C range. APPLICATIONS Running a dual-band ADS-B/UAT feeder, dump1090 and dump978, FlightAware, PlaneFinder, or your own SDR setup? This filter is built for you. Aircraft transponders are weak. Strong neighbors like FM broadcast, cellular/LTE, and other UHF sources can overload your SDR or LNA. Even when they're not close in frequency. The result: dropped messages, noisy decodes, and it has nothing to do with your antenna. This filter rejects that interference before it reaches your receiver. Both ADS-B (1090 MHz) and UAT (978 MHz) pass through one filtered path — no need for two separate filters. Typical uses: ADS-B / Mode S and UAT feeders (dump1090, dump978, FlightAware, PlaneFinder, and similar) Single-filter front end ahead of a splitter, for builds feeding separate 1090 MHz and 978 MHz SDRs from one antenna Protecting an LNA or SDR front end from nearby strong transmitters Research-grade or professional ADS-B/UAT monitoring stations SPECIFICATIONS Passband 978–1090 MHz Passband insertion loss 1.5 dB Minimum attenuation 40 dB (100–700 MHz) 35 dB (1400–3000 MHz) NOTES The filter uses SMA-F PCB edge mount connectors. Maximum RF input signal Level: +33 dBm RELATED PRODUCTS Don't have an LNA yet? Our ADS-B Dual Band Filtered LNA (15 dB gain) combines this filter's rejection with amplification in one part — a simpler starting point than buying filter and amplifier separately. If you're using separate receive chains for the 1090 MHz and 978 MHz, consider these filters: 1090 MHz Bandpass 978 MHz Bandpass 1030 MHz Bandpass
