The Sherlock is the shape everyone pictures when they hear "pipe" — long curved stem, bowl raised up at the end, and enough distance between the two that the smoke has cooled well before it reaches you. This one runs a full 7 inches and comes in fumed glass. Fuming is what makes it worth picking up over a plain spoon. A thin layer of vaporized metal is worked into the glass during forming, so the body starts out with a soft milky shimmer and gradually shifts in color as resin builds inside it. Break it in and it develops its own look over time.
