SCHEELITE on DOLOMITE with FLUORITE

Renowned for exceptionally colourful and glassy Fluorite crystals, the Yaogangxian mine, in Yizhang County, Hunan Province, China has also produced excellent crystallized specimens of other minerals with the combination pieces particularly noteworthy. This fine miniature specimen is a great example, presenting a really sharp, glossy, dark brown to cream coloured 6 mm wide octahedral Scheelite (an ore of tungsten) crystal perched nicely at the top of the piece alongside a cream-coloured composite Dolomite crystal - made up of many tiny rhombic crystals. Many tiny glassy, purple, cubic Fluorite crystals are dotted across the remainder of the specimen along with a second larger cream-coloured aggregate of Dolomite crystals. A quite pretty miniature specimen showing an assemblage of species from this renowned early 21st century Chinese occurrence.
