Xihu Longjing

SUMMARY Type: Green Tea Origin: Longjing Village, Xihu, Hangzhou, Zhejiang Province, China Producer: Shentu Miaoying Grassy, nutty, vegetal Longjing green tea originates from Hangzhou, Zhejiang, more specifically, around the Xihu region in Hangzhou, AKA the West Lake. A picturesque area with the bustling city of Hangzhou on one side, and peaceful mountains and tea fields on the other. Located within this peaceful landscape is Longjing village, where the tea is originally from. This particular Longjing that we have is a "Qunti Zhong", the original, heirloom Longjing cultivar. Leaves aren’t as uniform and look a little more rustic. What it lacks in appearance though it makes up for in taste. TASTING NOTES A medium strength Green tea that has an aroma of fresh cut grass with grassy and bean-like flavour notes, slight nutty hints with a smooth, satisfying and mouth-filling texture. PREPARATION NOTES Teapot steep (preferred method) 5g per 300ml of water 85 degrees Celsius 3mins per infusion (up to 5 infusions) Gong-Fu style 5g per 120ml of water 85 degrees Celsius 10 - 20secs per infusion (up to 8 infusions) Cold Brew 8g per 500ml of water Cold water 7-8 hrs in the fridge STORAGE Proper tea storage is super important. Improper storage leads to flat, flavourless and potentially weird tasting tea. So as a rule of thumb, keep your tea leaves in an airtight container (the less air inside the better) and away from heat, light, moisture and strong odours.
