UFC BIO Sodium Hydroxide (NaOH) Solution is a sterile, ready-to-use alkaline reagent for pH adjustment, acid neutralization and reagent preparation. Choose 0.1N, 0.5N or 1.0N in 500 mL or 1 L bottles. Each concentration is made from USP/NF-grade sodium hydroxide in USP-grade 18.2 MΩ·cm deionized water and sterile filtered through a 0.20 µm membrane. Sodium hydroxide absorbs carbon dioxide from the air, which can change its normality. Close the bottle promptly after use. Frequently Asked Questions Are normality and molarity the same for sodium hydroxide?Yes, for acid–base neutralization. Each mole of sodium hydroxide provides one equivalent of hydroxide, so 0.1M is 0.1N, 0.5M is 0.5N and 1.0M is 1.0N. Is this a pH calibration buffer?No. It is an alkaline reagent. Use a certified calibration buffer to calibrate a pH meter. Why do 0.5N and 1.0N ship differently from 0.1N?0.5N and 1.0N are shipped as Dangerous Goods (UN1824, Class 8), so they ship by ground only within the contiguous US and do not qualify for free shipping or returns.
