Intaglio Symmetry IV - Mid

Intaglio Symmetry IV - Mid These artworks use simple, organic shapes, the soft watercolor tones create balanced and minimal abstract compositions that feel calm and carefully arranged. The limited colour palette of warm beiges, blush and deep blues creates contrast while still maintaining a natural, soothing look. The empty space around the central forms draws attention to the placement and relationship between each shape. The layered forms resemble stacked stones or natural elements, suggesting stability and balance, while the loose brushstrokes and subtle textures add a handmade, expressive quality. This style connects to Minimalism, through its focus on simplicity and space, where forms are reduced to basic shapes. It also reflects influences from Japanese Zen aesthetics and East Asian ink painting, which emphasize balance, harmony, and the beauty of simplicity. This series explores calmness, structure, and the idea that even a few simple shapes can create a strong and meaningful composition.
