The Labrada Napkin is woven on a pedal loom with a subtle white-on-white herringbone pattern, creating the raised texture of a jacquard in a handmade textile. Generously sized and exceptionally durable, these are the napkins used for events at Ex Hacienda Guadalupe in Oaxaca. Designed to withstand constant service and repeated washing, they are replaced only every two or three years, depending on the season. Dimensions 19 3/4" W x 19 3/4" L Care Machine Wash Separately. Do not use bleach. Please note: napkin will shrink 5-10% after first wash. Made in Oaxaca The pedal loom was a Colonial introduction that was adopted throughout Mexico as an alternative to the backstrap loom, the standard cloth making technique in the pre-hispanic world. The looms are wooden, and usually made by the weavers themselves, and allow for wider cloths to be woven than their backstrap counterparts. A very skill based and demanding craft, that creates amazing patterns in cotton, wool, silk and a endless amount of other fibres. Just magic.
