While every stage that Shirley’s experienced since falling after her £1.00 has brought its surprises and unexpected challenges, it seems as though the under-under-underworld is entirely unpredictable. What’s more, this is a hostile environment. While Shirley’s gifted a mildly protective bonnet to help her, and best friend George, on their way, it’s no insurance against lava pangolins or evil hedge mazes! Then again, what of the Hall of Mirrors, which reflects inner fears, before the Pile of Predators? It seems as though we’re aware ahead of Shirley and George that they’ve not passed this quest…. in fact, it’s devious and ready to pounce! Despite so many twists and turns and such inhospitality, Shirley and George’s friendship is tight. They’ve missed each other. They want success through this quest so that George might be reunited with his four sisters and Shirley home safely. Could this be too much to ask? Bookwagon adores this series. It is unlike any other we’ve read, rich in humour, anarchy, respect for readers and original narrative. The graphics are outstanding, while the characters are true and brave and utterly daft. Bookwagon is overjoyed to welcome this third and final addition to the Boss of the Underworld trilogy. Boss of the Underworld: Shirley Vs Seven Deadly Dangers is a triumph.
