There is light machine oil that's left on the piece from our manufacturing process. This helps protect and minimize rust prior to finishing. Any rust can easily be removed with the included Scotch Brite pad. It is important to clean and seal the final product with either a wax or paint. Please see our cleaning and finishing video for complete info:** **Industrial Trestle Legs & Frame Require Assembly** **Complete Table Frame Option Includes: One set of table legs, Lower Stretcher, Aprons, Crossbraces and Hardware required for assembly. Hardware is provided for attaching tabletop as well. (Bench Legs Are Not Included! No Complete Frame Option for Bench Legs). **Supplied Heavy Duty screws for attaching tabletop are suitable for any type of wood top, this includes hardwoods tops as well. **PLEASE ACCOUNT FOR YOUR OVERHANGS - A "48" Table Frame" will be a TOTAL of 48"L from end-to-end. Assuming a 12"-15" OVERHANG on your TABLE TOP, this will accommodate a 6' - 6.5' Finished Table. Below is a quick sizing guide with at least 12" overhangs on each end to allow room for end chairs: 48" Long Frame = Suitable for a 6' - 6.5' long top 60" Long Frame = Suitable for a 7' - 7.5' long top 72" Long Frame = Suitable for a 8' - 8.5' long top **PLEASE NOTE - Aprons are pre-drilled to accommodate a MIN. 1.5" table top. For thinner table tops, you will need to use #10 washers, and stack them on the screw as "spacers" before driving the screw. This will reduce how far the screw protrudes from the apron. Test drive a screw with a few washers and then measure how far the screw protrudes. From there, adjust your depth accordingly based on your top thickness. Please note, no washers are provided and this is to be used on a case-by-case situation.
