Four weeks, beginning Wednesday 5th August 2026, 6pm-9pm (then 12th, 19th & 26th August). If you've always wanted to make a patchwork quilt, now is your moment! Through making one simple quilt, you'll gain so many of the skills needed to tackle more complex projects including rotary cutting, accurate assembly, layering and binding a quilt, and when is a 'mistake' not worth losing sleep over! IMPORTANT: Please check here before booking as once purchased, tickets are non-refundable. SUITABILITY: Whether you are completely new to sewing, or would like to refresh your skills, this is a great course for you. If you've never used a sewing machine before, or it's been a long time, we will help you find your way on your sewing journey! This class is suitable for adults only, age 16+. WHAT'S INCLUDED: Professional tuition by Aileen Patterns & info so that you can make the projects again Use of our Janome digital sewing machines and studio equipment Endless encouragement and advice! WHAT YOU'LL NEED TO BRING: Begin with 6 fat quarters of quilt-weight 100% cotton in different prints that all work together. If you prefer to keep it simple, you could also just choose two prints, and buy 1.5m of each. Please ask in Sew Yarn Crafty for advice if you need it. You'll also need 1.5m of quilt-weight cotton to back your project, and the same size in wadding. These won't be needed until week 3, so it might help to wait until then before purchasing so that you choose the correct type of wadding etc. You will also need 6m of binding, and again this will be needed for the final week. Machine-sewing thread (sew-all polyester thread or quality cotton is recommended). Basic sewing kit (bobbins, fabric scissors, tape measure, seam ripper, pins etc.) Bring a notebook to jot down measurements, instructions and any future fabric requirements. STUDIO ACCESS: The Studio at Sew Yarn Crafty is accessed from the main shop down a flight of stairs with alternative access direct to the basement for anyone requiring an entrance without steps. If you do have any accessibility needs or questions, please drop us an email. When attending any class, we will meet you in the shop 10 minutes before the start time. If you are running late and arrive to a closed front door, please go to the side alley (Wilson's Close) to the side entrance (with the bright pink door!) and ring the doorbell.
