"Coral Silk Beadwork" Vintage 1920's Coral Silk Beaded Skirt UK 12 US 8

Full of opulent original details, rendered in the most luxurious fashion, this rare 1920's piece is a beauty to behold. On a base of coral silk and embellished with glass coral coloured rocaille beads and silver lined glass bugle beads, this vintage 1920's skirt showcases the incredible craftsmanship of the era. The simple waistband of the skirt, boasts small gathered pleats which radiate along the length of the skirt-line. The waistband is decorated with a 6 tier matching silk belt, which boasts coral coloured beads joining the silk strands together, whilst setting off the elaborate and incredible decorative silk strand floral feature, edged with matching coral beads along each strands edge. This floral accent conceals the hook and eye fastenings of the waistband and joins to the back of the belt with two concealed press studs beneath the flower. The simple straight line of the skirt, features decorative silk panels along each side seam, framing the elaborate abstract and geometrical beadwork along the main body of the skirt. Provenance: This piece is believed to be dated to 1928 and once belonged to Charlotte Lewis Crandall Label: None Measurements of the Skirt Waist:31 Inches Waist to Hem: 29.5 inches Hips: up to 46 inches Size: UK 12 US 8 Closures: This skirt fastens with two hook and eyes and a concealed press stud, the belt fastens with two concealed press studs. Condition: This skirt is a restored 1920's piece which was originally a dress. The dress had considerable damage along the bodice. To preserve this piece it has been made into a skirt. All original details have been retained. It is in good vintage condition, with minor and natural bead loss along the skirt-line. There are two very minor age marks along the central part of the front of the skirt, these are well concealed within the beadwork and drape of the piece. These minor issues are not visible when the skirt is being worn. Please be advised that this is an original 1920s piece and will require gentle care.
