Tasting Notes: Vivid ruby red. Full bodied. Black cherry, raspberry tart, dried flowers. Wild forest strawberry growing in dry forest floor leaves. Meat, thyme, rosemary. Finishes with Santa Rosa plum acids and dry round tannins. The Grape: Grenache produces great wines when production is kept low. The challenge is controlling the naturally high yields of the grape. Judicious thinning of fruit clusters is how we do it. Grenache clusters are big and multi-winged with medium sized lightly pigmented berries. It is a flavorful grape that makes ripe rich wine. The Vineyard: The vines grow a stones throw from here, next to Walling Road. The Wine:
An additional year in oak added complexity and produced an excellent example of Grenache with deep flavors. Berries dance with a savoriness in this wine. The flavors show the earthiness of vines growing in rock. Drink now to 2034. made. Serve with: vegetable soup, duck confit, tomato and mushroom sandwich with alfalfa sprouts, sheep cheese, pork tenderloin roasted with fruit, pot roast, duck pate’, chicken breast supreme, roast pheasant, sausage pizza
