LARGE STONEWARE MUG CROSSES
Hand thrown stoneware mug, slightly larger than my standard mug, made from an iron rich, flecked clay. Glazed in an Ash wood glaze with black and iron oxide abstract marks. The mug has a wide base and gently tapering rim, and indentations to rest your fingers and thumb around the body of the form. It is the perfect size for that first large cup of tea of the day, or continuous filter coffee fill ups. All my work is made in my garden studio in Brighton. Each piece is made using a mix of clays that give me the warmth and homeliness I’m seeking in my work. I mix my own glaze using ash that has been collected from our wood burning stove over the winter. The ash comes from the wood of Ash trees that are sourced locally in East Sussex. Marks are made using a mix of oxides, mainly consisting of iron oxides with a small percentage of other oxides added (all of which are ethically sourced). Handwashing is recommended, to avoid chipping. However, all my products are dishwasher and microwave safe. Stoneware. Made in the United Kingdom. Each piece has been made by me, by hand. Due to the handmade nature, there are variations and irregularities in colour, size and shape and the mug shown may not necessarily be the mug you receive although all mugs are similar.
