Choose a position in full sun to light shade, ideally beneath deciduous trees or along garden borders where they will receive good light during the cooler months. Prepare the soil by working in compost or well rotted organic matter to improve drainage. Plant each corm approximately 10 cm deep and 7 to 10 cm apart, with the pointed end facing upward. In warmer climates, plant slightly deeper to help insulate the corms from temperature fluctuations. Water thoroughly after planting to help the corms settle into the soil. Apply a light layer of mulch to retain moisture and suppress weeds. A balanced bulb fertiliser or blood and bone applied at planting time will support healthy root development and flowering. Watering and Care Once established, Crocus Yellow Mammoth requires minimal watering. During the growing season, water only if rainfall is scarce.
