The construction uses cotton for the warp and a cotton-linen blend for the weft, with different twill ridge widths woven on the front and back of the cloth, meaning the fabric literally reads differently depending on the angle of light and which side faces out. Dyed in small batches to develop unique irregularities and wrinkles, then sun-dried rather than tumbled, a manual process that preserves the cloth's integrity and produces a natural, lived-in texture that machine drying flattens out.
