Basingstoke Canal Relay

HRR Basingstoke Canal Relay Time: 9:00am – 1:00pm Finish location: The Fox and Hounds Pub 71 Crookham Road Church Crookham GU51 5NP Join us for the HRR Basingstoke Canal Relay, as we aim to cover the entire length of the Basingstoke Canal in one club event while raising money for our club charity. Entry: £5 minimum donation per member or family. Runners will start from various points along the canal, with everyone finishing together at The Fox and Hounds for a well-earned celebration. We will reserve tables, so you can choose whether to join us for food, a drink, or both. HOW IT WORKS There will be several starting points, beginning from both the Weybridge and Greywell ends of the canal. Choose a starting point and run the distance from there to the finish at The Fox and Hounds. The idea is that runners starting further out will gradually be joined by runners beginning from later checkpoints along the route, creating a rolling club relay atmosphere all the way to the finish. STARTING POINTS FROM WEYBRIDGE Weybridge — 22 miles Woking — 16–17 miles Brookwood — 12 miles Ash Vale — 7 miles Frimley Green — 5 miles Fleet Pond — 2½ miles STARTING POINTS FROM GREYWELL Greywell — 16 miles Odiham Wharf — 5½ miles Dogmersfield — 2½ miles Accurate distances will be confirmed nearer the time. WHAT TO DO FIRST Sign up to a starting point via Spond Choose the distance that suits you best and add your name to that starting location. If you are not on Spond yet, please let us know and we can send you a link. Organise travel Please communicate with others to coordinate lifts and travel arrangements. We have selected locations that are accessible by both car and train wherever possible. Plan your start time Estimate how long your run will take, then work backwards from the 1:00pm finish time to calculate when you should begin. The aim is for runners from different starting points to naturally come together along the canal and finish as one big group.
