Birka Viking Nålbinding Cap
The Birka-style cap is among the most well-documented headwear of the Viking Age, its evidence drawn from the grave goods of Birka, Sweden. This one is worked in the ancient technique of nålbinding, stitched in the round from the crown outward in the manner the old makers used, the spiral of its making still visible at the top if you know to look for it, which you will, because you are the sort of person who looks. The wool is Merino, variegated in forest green, deep navy, and heathered grey... the colors of a Nordic wood. The brim is finished with a twisted edge in bright moss, a maker's mark as old as the impulse to leave one. Warm. Historically grounded. Made entire by hand, one loop at a time. Fits up to a 24" head circumference For Custom Orders: Contact
