Cup and Flask Gadget Cane
American Cup and Flask Cane Circa 1890 This cane conceals a secret perfect for anyone looking for a drink on the go. Topping the refined Malacca wood shaft is a brass flip-top handle that reveals a collapsible stirrup cup on a luxurious velvet base. The flip-top is engraved with the words “Pass of Killiecrankie Queen’s View” and a landscape scene, both referencing a scenic wooded river gorge in Perthshire, Scotland. Unscrewing the handle reveals a long, corked glass flask, in which a drink for the cup can be stored. Between the 19th and 20th centuries, canes went far beyond social status symbols, often reflecting the engineering ingenuity of the time. This would have been an essential accessory for a well-heeled gentleman on the go. A steel ferrule completes the beautiful design. 36“ length
