With all the excitement surrounding the recent reinterpretations from Universal Genève, we somehow always find ourselves returning to the originals, not simply because of value, but because of the quality, proportions, originality, and sheer elegance these early Polerouters possess. What truly sets this example apart is not only the case material, but the astonishing state of preservation. The twisted lugs retain wonderfully strong definition, while the numbers stamped on the caseback remain deeply visible, details that have become increasingly difficult to find on early gold Polerouters today. And then there is the dial, crafted from solid rose gold and finished with a subtle vertical brushed texture, which completely transforms under changing light. Free from lume and wonderfully pure in execution, the surface develops a warm glow that shifts beautifully with the angle, perfectly complementing the rich tone of the pink-gold case. CONDITION The twisted-lug case remains wonderfully sharp, retaining all of its original lines and definition, showing only light signs of careful wear over the decades. The watch still retains its original signed crown. The dial has been beautifully preserved, with only a handful of extremely minor aging marks, almost impossible to notice with the naked eye. The factory engravings on the caseback remain crisp and clearly visible, and the watch is further complemented by its original signed plexiglass, period-correct gold-plated buckle, and original box.
