DU04 Sideboard by Cees Braakman for Pastoe, 1960s – Teak, Japanese Series
Pastoe DU04 sideboard, designed by Cees Braakman and part of the ‘Japanese series’ by Pastoe from the 1960s. This model stands out for its refined proportions, slender legs, and characteristic recessed black handles, creating a subtle yet modern appearance. The sideboard is made of teak and teak veneer, combined with slender metal legs and bakelite handles. On the left is a cabinet with two doors and a shelf, and on the right four spacious drawers. The subtly curved inner sides of the drawers and the slim lines are characteristic of this series. Dimensions: 185 × 45 × 73 cm (wxdxh). Marked: Pastoe (see photos). Source: Pastoe catalogue 1959/60, p. 40 and Pastoe 100 years, p. 212. The condition is very good. The sideboard has been restored and newly treated with wax. Minimal signs of use consistent with its age. There is an opening at the back for cable management (see photos).
