The stock intake uses a small filter and a cramped airbox that can't flow enough air when you're making boost. The MAF housing's restrictive. The intake tubing's small diameter. The turbo's starving for air and you're losing power. PRL Motorsports' High Volume Intake V2 replaces the entire stock airbox with a 4" cone filter, a billet 2-piece MAF housing with velocity stack, and an HDPE rotomolded airbox that seals against the factory air duct. You're getting way more airflow. The bigger filter flows more. The velocity stack smooths airflow into the turbo. The sealed airbox keeps hot engine bay air out. The result's more power, better throttle response, and turbo spool that hits harder. No tune required. The MAF housing's designed to maintain proper fuel trims so the ECU's happy and you're not throwing a CEL. This is the V2 version which is PRL's current-generation design with improved fitment and better sealing than the original intake. Here's Why the Stock Intake Is Restrictive The stock Accord 2.0T intake uses a small paper filter in a cramped plastic airbox. The airbox is designed to be quiet and to fit around other engine bay components. It's not designed to flow maximum air. When you're on boost and the turbo's pulling hard, the stock intake can't supply enough air. The filter's too small. The airbox is too restrictive. The MAF housing creates turbulence. The result's power loss at the top end and slower turbo spool. You're also pulling hot air from the engine bay because the stock airbox doesn't seal well. Hot air's less dense than cold air. Less dense air means less oxygen which means less power. PRL's High Volume Intake V2 fixes all of that. The 4" cone filter flows way more air than the stock paper element. The billet MAF housing with velocity stack smooths airflow and eliminates turbulence. The HDPE rotomolded airbox seals against the factory air duct so you're pulling cold air from outside the engine bay instead of hot air from around the engine. You're getting more airflow and cooler air which means more power. 4" Cone Filter and Billet MAF Housing with Velocity Stack PRL's using a 4" cone filter which is way bigger than the stock flat panel filter. More filter surface area means more airflow and less restriction. The filter's a dry element which means you're not oiling it. When it gets dirty you wash it with soap and water and reinstall it. The MAF housing's a billet 2-piece design that's CNC-machined from aluminum. The housing includes a velocity stack which is a smooth bell-shaped inlet that guides airflow into the turbo inlet pipe. Velocity stacks eliminate sharp edges and sudden diameter changes that create turbulence. Smooth laminar flow means the turbo's pulling air efficiently instead of fighting turbulence. The MAF housing's calibrated to maintain proper fuel trims. That means the ECU reads the airflow correctly and delivers the right amount of fuel. You're not running lean. You're not throwing a CEL. The intake just works. HDPE Rotomolded Airbox with Factory Duct Integration The airbox is HDPE (high-density polyethylene) rotomolded which means it's smooth on the inside with no seams or rough spots. Smooth interior means better airflow. The airbox design integrates with the factory air duct that pulls air from the front of the car. PRL's designed an integrated scoop that seals against the factory duct. When the duct's sealed, you're pulling cold air from in front of the radiator. When it's not sealed, you're pulling hot air from the engine bay. The sealed design reduces heat soak and keeps intake temps down. Lower intake temps mean denser air which means more power. The custom-molded 4-ply silicone couplers have receiving grooves that lock the components together without obstructing airflow. Everything seals correctly and nothing's rattling or moving around. No Tune Required - Bolt-On Power This intake doesn't require a tune. PRL's designed the MAF housing to maintain proper fuel trims so the ECU compensates correctly. You're bolting the intake on and driving. No CEL. No lean conditions. Just more airflow and more power. If you're already running a tune with a downpipe and other bolt-ons, the intake stacks with those mods. You're making even more power because the turbo's getting the air it needs. The biggest gains come when you're running the full bolt-on stack. PRL intake, PRL downpipe, PRL intercooler, PRL front pipe, and a Hondata FlashPro tune. That's the combo that makes serious power on the Accord 2.0T. The intake's the first mod most people do because it's easy to install and it delivers noticeable gains in throttle response and power delivery.
