Goblins are the expendable, anarchic and utterly indispensable backbone of any greenskin warband, and the Goblin Meat Squad delivers ten of the scrappiest, most characterful small warriors in the grimdark sci-fi genre, each standing just 20mm from feet to eyes and packed with the manic personality that makes these diminutive fighters so beloved by hobbyists. This squad of ten parts assembles into a rabble of gap-toothed, bat-eared menaces armed with whatever they could scavenge, steal or bodge together from the battlefield debris around them, their mismatched equipment and wild expressions perfectly capturing the chaotic energy of a species that compensates for its lack of stature with sheer numbers, reckless aggression and an almost supernatural tolerance for being used as cannon fodder. The weapon spread across the ten goblins is delightfully varied and entirely in keeping with the scavenged aesthetic of a warband that equips itself from the loot of its betters. Pistols, stubby firearms, makeshift blades and improvised clubs appear alongside the squad's centrepiece model: a particularly smug goblin sitting atop an enormous skull-marked bomb of frankly alarming size, clutching it with proprietary satisfaction while his companions gather nervously around it. Backpack-mounted rocket tubes, oversized helmets, bullet bandoliers and grenades complete the picture of a unit that is simultaneously terrifying and hilarious. The goblins themselves display a wonderful range of facial expressions across the squad, from gap-toothed grins of pure violent delight to wide-eyed panic, sneering confidence and the vacant enthusiasm of creatures too stupid to recognise danger. Each face is individually sculpted with the kind of character and personality that rewards close inspection and makes painting each model a genuinely enjoyable experience rather than a chore. Pointed ears, jutting chins and enormous noses are rendered with crisp detail that paints up beautifully even at this compact 20mm scale. The Goblin Meat Squad functions on the tabletop as objective harassment units, screening forces, expendable charge fodder and general chaos inducers whose unpredictable behaviour is as likely to unsettle the enemy as it is to achieve any coherent tactical objective. Ten goblins at this scale rank up efficiently on any standard battlefield and provide immediate visual contrast and narrative texture alongside larger warband elements. Supplied as ten unpainted, unassembled resin miniatures in ten parts, the Goblin Meat Squad is an essential and deeply entertaining addition to any greenskin force and a rewarding painting project for hobbyists who enjoy characterful small-scale work. Painting Guide: Goblin Meat Squad The Goblin Meat Squad rewards a fast and fun approach to batch painting, where bold contrasting colours and a strong wash do most of the heavy lifting across all ten models simultaneously, leaving detail work for the faces and weapons that make each goblin individual. 1. Prime Prime grey across all ten models simultaneously, as this provides a neutral foundation that suits both the green skin tones and the scavenged metal and cloth surfaces present throughout the squad. 2. Armour Base Basecoat all skin across the entire squad in one session using Warboss Green or Contrast Ork Flesh over grey primer, getting all ten models to the same stage before moving forward for maximum efficiency. Highlight skin up through Skarsnik Green to Nurgling Green on the most raised facial features, ear tips and knuckles, keeping the highlighting consistent across all ten models for a unified squad appearance. 3. Trim and Details Paint all cloth rags, straps and pouches in a mix of dirty browns and faded ochres using Rhinox Hide, Mournfang Brown and Zandri Dust, varying the colour placement model to model to create the impression of mismatched scavenged equipment across the squad. Apply Agrax Earthshade across all skin and cloth surfaces simultaneously on all ten models to unify tones and push shadow into the excellent facial detail, then follow with Nuln Oil into all metallic and mechanical areas. 4. Weapons Paint all guns, blades and the centrepiece bomb in Leadbelcher washed heavily with Nuln Oil, then drybrush with Ironbreaker across all metal surfaces simultaneously for a fast and effective scavenged metal finish across the entire squad. Add a spot of Mephiston Red or Yriel Yellow to one detail on each model such as a bandolier strap, helmet marking or grenade body, providing a unifying accent colour that ties the squad together visually without making them look uniform. 5. Weathering Stipple rust and chipping across all weapons and metal equipment using a torn blister sponge with Doombull Brown then Ryza Rust, taking no more than thirty seconds per model for a fast and convincing scavenged battlefield equipment appearance. Apply pale dust pigment to boots and lower legs across all ten models consistently, and add a thin wash of Agrax Earthshade around boot soles and base contact points to ground the models naturally in their environment. 6. Bases Rubble and wasteland bases suit this squad perfectly at their compact scale: coarse texture paste drybrushed with Mechanicus Standard Grey and Administratum Grey, with scattered tiny stone fragments, optional spent shell casings and sparse dead grass tufts tying the entire ten-model unit together as a coherent battleground rabble.
