VINTAGE 9ct GOLD 1966 ETERNA-MATIC AUTOMATIC WATCH MINT ORIGINAL CONDITION. This is a super vintage Eterna. The Eterna–Matic was Eterna’s answer to the Omega Seamster in many ways. A fully water-proof, solid gold watch housing an exceptional quality automatic movement. This example is in choice condition. Manufactured in Switzerland in 1966 by the London hallmarks stamped on the inside case back. A very heavy case, with a large 9ct content which has to be considered, what with the high value of gold at the moment. Measuring just over 33.5mm across the bezel (not including the crown) and 41mm tip to tip. The case is in very, very nice original un-polished condition with nice sharp edges to the lugs etc. The screw down waterproof back is free from scratches and has quite possibly never been opened. The fabulous original silvered dial has contrasting polished gold batton divisions and calendar window. Luminous filled sword hands and luminous dots to the dial still in excellent order (though no longer luminous). White gold markers, which was particular to the 61. Also a feature of the 61 was the raised chapter ring for the seconds scale and luminous dots. The original glass is still present and the crown is original and in perfect order. The automatic movement is in beautiful condition and of outstanding quality with ball-bearing mounted rotor, the very first of it’s kind from any manufacturer and particular to the Etern-Matic range. Individually serial numbered to the outside back also, a sign of exceptional quality. Working well, running strongly, winding and setting as it should. In totally original condition and unpolished, fitted with a new, quality crocodile-grain strap. A nice collectable Eterna at half the price of the equivalent Omega.
