We stock various grades of Kazak carpets, and these pieces are set aside as finer-quality Afghan rugs and carpets. What does it mean? The supplier or finishing centres often grade each carpet based on skill. This means that more knots are used to produce a more detailed or refined rug. Of course, as you might expect, the finer the quality, the more expensive the rug will be, primarily because it has taken much longer to weave. Although Kazaks are hand-knotted in Afghanistan, the design originates from the Caucasus. The short pile emphasises the pattern's sharpness. Each piece is crafted from exceptional Afghan wool, typically spun in the Ghazni region. Afghan wool is generally slightly coarser and curlier than other wools, making it perfect for carpet weaving. Afghan Kazak carpets are traditionally made with bold geometric designs in intense, vibrant colours such as rich reds, warm terracottas, and shades of blues with soft golds and creams. The final carpet stage in Pakistan involves many processes; initial tensioning and alignment problems may be undertaken, followed by surface clipping, herbal washing, and tumbling. This combination of Afghan weaving and Pakistani finishing has proven successful. When buying online, it is worth considering the rug's provenance.
