The Elitewheels Marvel 50D II is designed for riders wanting the aerodynamic benefits and look of a modern deep section carbon wheelset with conventional, serviceable steel spokes. With a 50 mm carbon rim, 23 mm internal width, 31 mm external width and a weight of 1,500 ± 30 g per pair, it is a strong option for club rides, fast road riding, longer days and riders upgrading from alloy wheels. A$1,299 for the complete wheelset (front + rear) · Standard shipping within Australia included. Why the Marvel 50D II? The Marvel gives you much of what makes a modern road wheel fast, including 50 mm rim depth, wide rims designed around 28–30C tyres and aerodynamic bladed spokes, at a substantially lower price than the Drive series. It is also built around Alpina Ultralite Aero steel spokes, which makes replacement and long term workshop servicing straightforward. For NWHBIKES, that makes the Marvel particularly interesting for riders who want a serious carbon wheel upgrade without needing the lower weight and carbon spokes of the Drive 50D II. Aerodynamics The Marvel II uses a U/V shaped 50 mm rim profile designed to improve airflow around the wheel while also improving stability during fast riding and crosswinds. Its 31 mm external width is aerodynamically matched to modern 28–30C road tyres, helping the tyre and rim form a smoother overall profile through the air. Elitewheels specifically designed the wider second generation Marvel rim around these tyre sizes. Elitewheels does not publish a specific watt saving figure for the Marvel 50D II, so we do not quote one. Steel aero spokes The Marvel 50D II uses Alpina Ultralite Aero steel spokes, with 21 front and 24 rear. They provide a conventional, replaceable spoke system while retaining a bladed profile designed to reduce aerodynamic drag. The wheels use Sapim Secure Lock nipples, another sensible detail from a long term serviceability perspective. Ceramic bearings and 4 pawl freehub The hubs use S&S ceramic bearings and a 4 pawl freehub mechanism. Freehub options are available for Shimano HG and SRAM XDR.
