Edgar Brutler Sefu White Romania
A litre of natural white wine from the heart of Romania. Bright and characterful wine with citrus, stone fruit, orange peel and tropical aromas. Subtle texture from a short period of skin contact. Easy going but by no means boring. The palate is rich and creamy, balanced out by nice acidity from the Riesling grapes. In the Transylvanian village of Beltiug, an old vineyard awaited someone to revive it and transform its grapes into wine. Edgar Brutler and his family stepped in to save it and preserve these old vines. The vineyard features a rich array of native Romanian white varieties alongside Pinot Noir and Syrah. Despite the challenges posed by the rugged, rainy terrain of Romania’s northern reaches, they’ve succeded with remarkable skill and dedication, embracing organic farming and natural winemaking, in a method they describe as “Old-school avant-garde.” Origin: Transylvania, Romania Vintage: 2024 Grape varieties: 25% Riesling, 25% Chardonnay, 25% Furmint, 25% indigenous varieties Food pairings: Shellfish, aged and hard cheese, earthy dishes, poultry Bottle size: 100cl ABV: 11.5% ORGANIC
