An exceptionally well-preserved Edwardian sterling silver sovereign case, hallmarked in Birmingham in 1907 and bearing the A.L.D maker’s mark of the Dennison Watch Case Company. Dating from the reign of Edward VII, this elegant circular case recalls the days when gold sovereigns were carried as everyday currency. Its bright silver finish and compact proportions make it a charming example of a practical gentleman’s accessory from the early twentieth century. A press button within the suspension ring releases the hinged lid, revealing a finely engine-turned, spring-loaded coin platform. The case opens smoothly and closes with a satisfying snap. The interior carries the Birmingham anchor, sterling silver lion passant and date letter “h” for 1907, together with the A.L.D mark and the stamped number 362. Further marks appear on the suspension ring, adjoining ball fitting and edge of the sprung coin section.
