Glen Elgin 'Adelphi' 2009 / 16 years old 57.4%

A rich and well layered dram offering from Adelphi, this Single Cask Glen Elgin has spent sixteen years maturing in a refill Oloroso Hogshead yielding 231 bottles. On the nose there are aromas of rain soaked moss and damp forest floor, alongside sesame oil and soy sauce, with hints of sweet gingerbread. The palate opens up with notes of roasted Brazil nuts and pumpernickel, followed by herbal tones of eucalyptus and fennel, sweet raisins and five spice. Aged leather and umami notes linger on the finish.
