About the Artist Alex Vigil is a Santa Fe–based emerging designer creating one-of-a-kind wearable art rooted in sustainability and his Spanish and Native American heritage. Working with vintage denim and reclaimed materials, Alex uses deconstruction, patchwork and handwork to give existing garments an entirely new life. His work connects heritage with contemporary design while keeping craft, community and care for the earth at its center. About the Piece Alex transformed a pair of vintage natural cotton pants with reclaimed denim patchwork, creating a completely one-of-a-kind piece that celebrates repair, reuse and the beauty of imperfection. The relaxed, straight-leg silhouette becomes a canvas for layers of vintage denim in different washes—from faded black to bold red. Oversized geometric patches travel down the front of each leg, creating a bold, almost collage-like pattern, while contrasting dark denim back pockets finish the piece. Fading, variation, visible stitching and traces of each fabric's previous life are intentionally celebrated. The result feels part workwear, part wearable art—and completely Alex. Handmade. Upcycled.
