2025 Wilyabrup Valley Malbec

This wine is 100% Malbec from the Wilyabrup Valley, grown on free-draining loam over clay. We love Malbec at Woodlands - and we include Malbec in every red wine we make. Woodlands first bottled Malbec separately in 1993. From 2002 we have produced a Woodlands Vineyard Malbec each year - the Reserve de la Cave. When vintage and volume allows, we have also been able to produce small amounts of Malbec with the Wilyabrup Valley label. After harvest the fruit was destemmed, hand sorted, crushed and fermented in small stainless steel fermenters. Following fermentation the wine was matured in oak for 14 months. The colour is deep crimson with a purple hue. An incredible whack of ripe blackberry, mulberries, dried oregano, clove, with a hint of minerality. Delightfully plush palate, filled with black plum, blueberry and dark cherry fruit flavours, subtle floral nuances sit upfront, while crushed savoury herbal notes and hints of dark chocolate/mocha are carried by firm, velvety tannins to a juicy, lingering finish.
