Stereo Integrity TM65 mkIV 6.5 Inch Midbass | Sold as a Pair Pure Aluminum Cone 50 mm Copper Voice Coil 7.9 mm One-Way Xmax 58.3 mm Mounting Depth 150W RMS Aggressive Midbass, Smoother Midrange The TM65 mkIV is a completely new, low distortion 6.5 inch driver that Stereo Integrity designed with Finite Element Analysis in North Carolina. The brief was to keep the aggressive midbass the TM65 line is known for while adding smoother midrange, with on-axis extension out to 5,000 Hz. It mounts in just 58.3 mm thanks to a custom tooled cast aluminum basket with an integrated rain shield, which makes it a practical upgrade for factory door locations. Engineering Highlights Dual Shorting Rings A copper pole sleeve and a magnet ID ring lower and linearize inductance. Stereo Integrity says the resulting Xmax to Le ratio is usually found only in far more expensive drivers. 50 mm CZA Former Voice Coil Solid copper windings on a 50 mm CZA former drive the cone. The copper coil, CZA former, and aluminum cone work together to pull heat away from the coil and raise thermal power handling. Pure Aluminum Cone The cone body is shaped for the best strength to weight ratio, giving it the stiffness for midbass and deep bass along with proper frequency extension. Tuned for the Door A vehicle door is a lossy space that behaves much like an infinite baffle, so Stereo Integrity gave the TM65 mkIV a higher Qts, in the 0.65 region, for the best mix of low frequency extension and output there. Crossover and System Integration Stereo Integrity recommends running the TM65 mkIV from 65 Hz to 3,500 Hz with high-pass and low-pass crossovers, using a high-pass slope of 24 dB per octave or steeper. Its anechoic on-axis response runs from 65 Hz to 8,000 Hz, and it stays smooth to 3,500 Hz off-axis. Build a front stage: Pair the TM65 mkIV with an M22 or M28 tweeter for a 2-way, or add the M3 Carbon midrange, which Stereo Integrity recommends alongside it, for a 3-way. Enclosure Options Most TM65 mkIV installs go in the door, but Stereo Integrity also publishes enclosure recommendations: 0.2 cubic feet sealed, with a range of 0.15 to 0.5, or 1.5 cubic feet ported and tuned to 30 Hz with 7 square inches of port area, with a range of 1.2 to 2.0 cubic feet.
