A beautifully proportioned early 20th-century Arts and Crafts oak cabinet, believed to date from around the 1930s, featuring wonderfully shaped sides, beautifully figured oak and elegant handcrafted details. The gently shaped sides, softly rounded corners and graceful curved apron give the cabinet a lovely understated elegance. The richly figured oak door panel is particularly striking, complemented by a distinctive carved wooden knob. Beautifully finished in a warm, golden tone, the oak has lovely natural variations in colour and grain. The practical design features an open upper shelf, perfect for displaying books, ceramics or favourite decorative pieces, with a spacious cupboard beneath and a fixed internal shelf. – A Lovely History – Originally part of the bedroom furnishings of a historic British educational institution, we understand these cabinets were used in accommodation for trainee nurses. Remarkably, they remained in their original setting for many years before being carefully removed and brought to our workshop for restoration. – Beautifully Restored Condition – Carefully restored in our workshop and presented in excellent condition, the oak has been sympathetically refinished to enhance its beautiful golden colour and attractive natural grain. Just a few minor polished-in marks, scuffs and gentle signs of age remain, all part of its authentic vintage character.
