'A Firm Foundations' 5x7 inch original painting

An original painting sized 5x7 inches titled ‘A Firm Foundation.’ This painting is painted on professional watercolor paper with watercolor, gouache, and acrylic paint. This painting was inspired by some of the faith struggles I’ve had throughout my life. When my parents divorced a few years ago, it felt like everything I believed in fell apart. I realized that my faith in God was intertwined with my faith in my parents, and their faith in God. When my family felt like it was crumbling, my faith did too. Although this was a painful experience, it was absolutely vital to my life. It was very important for me to take a step back and really figure out what I believed in. Not for my mom, not for my dad, not for my friends, not for my siblings, but for ME. What does Paige believe in?? In some of my most painful moments, I realized that the Savior had not abandoned me. I felt Him next to me in my confusion and my questioning. When everything else crumbled and everything I believed to be true felt like it was not anymore, He did not leave me. Even in my anger, even in my questioning, even in my sorrow. He was always there. And so I realized that I needed to cling to Him with everything I had. He had not left me, and I decided right then and there that I would not leave Him. I needed to rebuild my faith from the very foundation, and that foundation had to be my Savior. When I pray, when I paint, when I sing hymns, this is the image I see in my mind. I want to hold as tightly to the Savior as He does to me. The one who never leaves. The one who never breaks. The one who never causes sorrow. His is a perfect love, and I am so grateful for the firm foundation that is that love.
