Buckaroo Blue Grass is the twenty-eighth studio album by Michael Martin Murphey, and his first album of bluegrass music. Released February 10, 2009 on Rural Rhythm Records, the album was produced by Ryan Murphey and reimagines several of Murphey's classic songs, including "Carolina In The Pines," "Cherokee Fiddle," and "What Am I Doing Hanging Around," in bluegrass arrangements alongside new material like "Lone Cowboy" and "Close To The Land (America's Heartland)," the theme song for the PBS and RFD-TV series America's Heartland. The record features a lineup of top bluegrass musicians including Sam Bush, Rhonda Vincent, Ronnie McCoury, Pat Flynn, Rob Ickes, and Charlie Cushman. Running time is approximately 42 minutes across eleven tracks.
