Large Vintage Chinese Celadon Crackle-Glazed Covered Jar

This large Chinese porcelain covered jar, dating to circa 1980, has a tall temple-jar silhouette with rounded shoulders, a cylindrical neck and a domed removable lid topped by a bud-shaped finial.A pale celadon-colored glaze is traced with deliberate dark crackling across both vessel and cover, adding depth without disturbing its restrained monochrome character. At 34 inches high, it can anchor a floor arrangement, pedestal or substantial cabinet; without the lid, the body also functions as a tall decorative vase.
