Ancient Egyptian Amarna Pottery Rosette Mold New Kingdom, 18th Dynasty, Amarna Period, ca. 1353–1336 BCE Pottery 2” x 1¾” Ancient Egyptian pottery mold bearing a deeply impressed eight-petal rosette. Such molds were used in workshops at Akhetaten (modern Amarna) to produce faience inlays, jewelry elements, and decorative ornaments. The rosette was among the most popular decorative motifs of the period and appears on a wide variety of palace and personal adornments. The mold retains excellent definition with traces of ancient deposits within the recessed design. A fine example of the industrial and artistic production associated with the reign of Akhenaten. Provenance: Ex Revere Auctions, St. Paul, Minnesota; Ex Private Minnesota Collection.
