VINHAS DA TEIXUGA RED 2019 Grape Varieties 100% Jaen Harvest 2019 Alcohol by volume 13,5% Appellation Dão DOP, Portugal Tasting notes With an open ruby tone this wine shows strong aromas to red fruit, jams and spices. In the mouth it is fresh, elegant and tasty, with soft and silky tanins supported in a gentle way by the tanins from the barrel which becomes prominently gastronomic. Food Pairing Veal Arouquesa, roasted codfish, grilled sardines. Vinification This Jaen red highlighted from the other wines from 2019 since the beginning. It is made from an old vineyard with 35 years old, situated in the heart of the estate where Jaen is exclusively planted. It is one of the most traditional grapes in the Dão region. After finished the fermentation, that occured in a stainless steal vat with controled temperature, the major part of the blend staged in a stainless steal vat and other part staged 12 months in two french oak barrels carefully sellected to highlight the special characteristics from this grape. Jaen originates elegant and smooth wines and requires a special care in its “education” not to change this balance. In this case, the barrel is like a catalyser to highlight the potential of the grape! Vineyards Old vineyards from Quinta da Teixuga.
