Eileen Mandarin Collar Dress - Blue and White Ikat
A simple dress with classic details. A Mandarin collar, toggle and loop fastening, with pockets and side slits running up the leg. Subtle, yet immediately effective, with clean lines, this silhouette works as a casual weekend dress or wear it with pants for a more covered look. The teal green linen gives a contemporary touch to this interpretation of the "quipao" The dress is named Eileen, after Eileen Chang, Chinese-born American essayist, novelist and screenwriter, whose female characters embodied daring traits and dramatic lives during 1940s Shanghai and Hong Kong. CRAFT HERITAGE Ikat is a dyeing technique used to weave patterns into textiles. It uses a technique called resist dyeing, where threads are tied and dyed before weaving. One of the most noticeable and unique attributes of surrounding an Ikat pattern is the blurriness in the design. It can also be considered to be a global design movement that spans across the centuries and originated in Asia. The word “ikat” has Indonesian and Malay roots, roughly translating to mean “tie and bind”. The handloom Ikat fabrics sourced by Ayesha originate from the weaving cluster of Telangana, India. This design has been woven by multi-generational master weaver, Yadagiri Gajam from Puttapakka, Telangana. DESCRIPTION This dress follows a tailored fit. Slits on the sides. Comes with pockets.
