Monoprint from a Life Model Workshop
This one-day workshop explores monoprinting as a spontaneous and expressive way of working from the life model. Unlike traditional printmaking processes, monoprint allows artists to create unique prints by applying ink directly onto a plate, manipulating the surface, and printing the image through an etching press. Working with oil-based inks, participants will experiment with applying, removing, and manipulating ink to build images using tools such as brushes, rags, card, and fingers. The process encourages a painterly approach to printmaking, allowing marks to be pushed, wiped, layered, and transformed before printing. Using the life model as inspiration, the workshop will focus on gesture, light, and composition rather than detailed drawing. Through a series of quick poses and longer studies, participants will develop a series of expressive prints that explore tone, texture, and movement. This workshop is suitable for artists interested in combining drawing, painting, and printmaking in a dynamic and experimental way. Tutor: Katya Timoshenko (#WE58)
