Germany, Luftwaffe. A Transport and Glider Clasp, Gold Grade with Star Pendant, by Gustav Brehmer

(Frontflugspange für Transport-und Luftlandeflieger in Gold mit Sternanhänger). Constructed of gilded zink, the obverse consisting of a circular laurel leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom by ribbon, surrounding a central Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika while in mid-flight, flanked on each side by nine oak leaves, with two loops emanating from the lower edge of the wreath for the accommodation of a pendant consisting of a central radiant starburst flanked by clusters of laurel leaves, the reverse with a barrel hinge and banjo-style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked but demonstrating the characteristics of manufacture by Gustav Brehmer, Markneukirchen, the clasp measuring 77.28 mm (w) x 25.82 mm (h), the hanger measuring 35.54 mm (w) x 12.04 mm (h), weighing 23.6 grams overall, demonstrating near-total loss of gilt finish throughout the base metal, in very fine condition.
