Masanori Ushiki - Fighters
Fighters presents a selection of 78 drawings from Masanori Ushiki’s long-running series of original character designs. Created over the past 17 years, these works are inspired by Tokusatsu TV shows, hero manga, and masked wrestlers that marked the artist’s childhood. While a portion of the series has been previously published in Japan, this new edition is the first to be printed in A4 format, aligning with the size of the original artworks. The 80-page book offers a fuller view of the intricate detailing, dynamic poses, and visual impact of each fighter. Produced in France, this shift in context reflects the broader reception of the work, which now extends beyond traditional character design aimed at children. With its presentation in Paris, Fighters is increasingly recognized as a distinct form of artistic expression—highlighting both its visual creativity and fashion-like aesthetic. Painter, illustrator.
