Humidor Diamond Large - Nero Portoro Marble

Nero Portoro is quarried at Portovenere in Liguria and has been celebrated since Roman times as one of Italy's most prestigious black marbles. Its deep black surface is threaded with gold and white veining, and no two slabs are alike, which makes every piece in this collection a genuinely one-of-a-kind object. The stone that has to be read before it is cut Portoro has always been treated as a precious material rather than a building one, and the reason is in the veining. The gold runs in defined bands, so a block has to be read and cut along the direction of those bands rather than simply sliced. Get it wrong and the pattern breaks across a face. It is the slowest marble we work and the least forgiving, which is why it sits at the top of the Diamond collection. The system inside Boveda packs supply the moisture, releasing it when the interior dries and reabsorbing it when the level climbs, and a dynamic dual-fan system circulates that humidity through the cabinet so the far end holds the same level as the packs themselves. There is no distilled water and no sponge: the packs are replaced when they begin to stiffen, typically every two to four months. Internal ambient LED lighting makes the gold veining read properly, which in a stone this dark it otherwise would not. The humidor opens on a solid oak drawer with a Blumotion soft-close mechanism rather than a lid, so opening it does not release the conditioned air in a single movement. Capacity and care The 120-cigar capacity is measured on a standard Toro, around 135 Robusto, and varies with ring gauge. Keep the humidor below roughly 21 °C and out of direct sun. Above about 24 °C tobacco beetle eggs can hatch inside a cigar. Clean the marble with a soft, barely damp cloth only: acidic and limescale products etch polished stone permanently, and on Portoro the damage shows most on the gold.
