Frequently asked questions How does this differ from the oak version? Same size, same wording, same handle hole. This one is 5mm bamboo — thicker, heavier in the hand and more resistant to splitting under daily handling. The oak version is 4mm oak veneered MDF with a warmer, more traditional grain, and is the more budget-friendly of the two. Why 5mm rather than 3mm bamboo? Bamboo is strong along its fibres but can split if pressure is applied across the grain. A thicker cross-section gives a crack more material to travel through before it can propagate.
