Overview The Spring Drive Self-Dater in SBGA103 marks the 50th anniversary of the 1964 Grand Seiko Self-Dater, the second-generation Grand Seiko and the first to combine a date function, water resistance, and Zaratsu polishing in a single model. Issued as part of Grand Seiko's Historical Collection and produced at the Shinshu Watch Studio in Suwa, this reference is limited to 500 pieces worldwide, reviving the original design language in Spring Drive form as a tribute piece rather than a reissue. The case is stainless steel, 39.9mm in diameter and 13.2mm thick, with a see-through screw case back in sapphire and a dual-curve sapphire crystal carrying anti-reflective coating. The dial is a silver sunburst finish, among the most pronounced sunburst textures Grand Seiko has produced, paired with polished hands and a blued seconds hand. Water resistance is rated to 10 bar (100m), magnetic resistance to 4,800 A/m. The bracelet is stainless steel on a three-fold clasp with push-button release.
