Traditional Japanese Matcha Chasen
Traditional Chasen - Shin Kazuho (真数穂) The newest addition to the Megami collection. Hand-carved from a single piece of bamboo by Kubo Yoshinari, a certified Traditional Craftsman in Takayama, Nara. A craft passed down for over 500 years. This is a Shin Kazuho (真数穂), a classical chasen style, known for its precisely, evenly counted tines. A mark of true craftsmanship. Each tine is split and shaped by hand, from a single stalk of bamboo. A skill that takes years to master. No two whisks are ever quite the same. Made entirely by hand, one at a time. We bring back only a small number with each visit to Japan. To care for it This chasen asks for a little more care. Rest it on a whisk holder between uses. Rinse gently with warm water after each session. Let it dry on the holder, never soaking. Keep water contact short, it protects the bamboo.
