Zebra Striped Bone Inlay Mirror with a Moorish Arch

The crown of this Bone Inlay Mirror is a Moorish arch, rising to a soft peak at the center with a shoulder falling away to either side. The outline is unmistakable. That shape carries the whole piece, and it lets the mirror hold a wall on its own without anything hung beside it. Fine wedges of hand-cut bone radiate out from the glass all round the frame, narrow at the inner edge and widening as they travel. The ground behind is black. Every inlay is set by hand into solid hardwood, so the border opens like a pleated fan and no two frames come out quite the same. At thirty-five by fifty-one inches it suits an entry, a mantel, or the wall above a dressing chest. There is pattern here but no color. It sits as easily against wallpaper as against plain plaster, and it was made to partner the matching bone inlay cocktail table.
