Tamiru Tadesse is the founder of Alo Coffee, a specialty coffee producer based in Bensa, Sidama, Ethiopia. Trained as an electrical engineer and former university lecturer, he founded Alo Coffee in 2020 to showcase the exceptional quality of Sidama coffees while creating greater value for local farming communities. Working with hundreds of smallholder farmers, Tamiru produces selectively harvested, high-elevation microlots using meticulous processing methods, including controlled fermentation and anaerobic techniques. His coffees are recognised for their clarity, complexity, and vibrant flavour profiles. Many of Alo Coffee's lots are produced from the 74158 variety, developed by the Jimma Agricultural Research Center (JARC), a cultivar prized for its disease resistance and outstanding cup quality.
