Violin Partita No. 3 in E Major, BWV 1006: I. Preludio
Violinist Mark Fewer releases Violin Partita No. 3 in E Major, BWV 1006: I. Preludio, on July 17, the first single from his forthcoming album, J.S. Bach: Violin Sonatas and Partitas, BWV 1001–1006. Arriving August 14, the full recording brings together one of the cornerstones of the solo violin repertoire with six violins crafted by leading Canadian luthiers. The Preludio is performed on an instrument made by Canadian luthier Sibylle Ruppert. Its bright, energetic character introduces the album’s central concept, with each of Bach’s six sonatas and partitas performed on a different violin. The project highlights both the individuality of each instrument and the interpretive possibilities that emerge as Bach’s music is heard through the distinct voices of Canadian-made violins.
