This Eastman T186MX is one of the finest early examples of Eastman’s early handcrafted archtop semi hollow guitars. This instrument combines the traditional approach of a hand carved maple top, with solid mahogany neck, back and sides, resulting in an electric guitar tonally enhanced by its acoustic properties. Rather than having a solid block through the middle of the guitar body (like an ES-335) this guitar features a mostly hollow construction, with one solid block of wood underneath the bridge. This gives the guitar a louder and expressive acoustic tone while mitigating feedback issues of fully hollow instruments. This also brings the weight down to an impressive 2.9kg. This is an exceptionally comfortable couch guitar and is enjoyable to play even without plugging it in. This is a very early example, number 4 of the AU series of instruments. It has been kept in very good condition with only a few small minor scrapes here and there as evidenced in photos. These early Eastmans are excellent quality, with excellent materials throughout, right down to the textured ivoroid binding and gold plated pickup selector. Comes with a light and robust hard shell flight case. ______________________________ Brand: Eastman Model: T186MX Country: PRC Year: 2006 Serial: AU0XXX Case: HSC Body: “Classic" Red Neck: “Classic" Red Finish: Lacquer Top: Solid Maple Back/Sides: Solid Mahogany Neck: Mahogany Fretboard: Ebony Scale Length: 25” Frets: 22 Radius: 12” Profile: Trad even “C” Action (Low E): 1.8mm Nut: 44.6mm 12th Fret: 53.9mm 1st Fret Depth: 20.8mm 12th Fret Depth: 22.3mm Pickups: Kent Armstrong Humbuckers Resistance: Neck 8.37K, Bridge: 13.1K Electronics: Original Knobs: Amber top hat Pick Guard: N/A Tuners: Gotoh Hardware: Gold plated Weight: 2.9kg Mods, Repairs: N/A
